EtherCAT Editor

To access the EtherCAT Editor:
In the Project View, double-click the EtherCAT node.

Use the EtherCAT Editor to create and configure the EtherCAT network. Once the EtherCAT network is created, the EtherCAT Diagnostics can be used to view the state of the network devices and the actual data on the network.

The main panes of the EtherCAT Editor are the EtherCAT Explorer, the Device Editor, and Messages.

EtherCAT Explorer Pane

Use the Explorer pane to:

• Create a new EtherCAT network

• Add, remove, and re-order devices on the network.

• Select devices to configure them via the tabbed windows in the Device Editor.

Device Editor Pane

Use the Device Editor to configure individual devices. For each device, the Device Editor has several tabs. Not all EtherCAT devices will have all the tabs. See each tab topic for details.

Messages Pane

The Messages Pane displays informational and warning messages. The Messages Pane is hidden by default and can be shown by selecting EtherCAT®Messages.
